Huzur Saran

Huzur Saran is the Head of the Department of Computer Science at IIT Delhi.He did his Ph. D in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.His research is focused on Computer Security, Networks and Algorithms.
Saran has been a leading advocate of Broadband Wireless and has been actively working in 4G wireless technologies.
Saran has worked on the media access control layer of an exploratory 4G wireless systems. He has been investigating wireless access and mesh technologies to enable ICT for rural masses. During 2002-2004 he worked on WIPO: Wireless internet Post Office based on handhelds and Wireless Mesh networks for rural communication. More recently his group has been working on a rural content distribution framework for building disruption tolerant applications and to enable peer-to-peer audio/video collaboration. The work is supported in part under the National Mission on Education through ICT. He is on the Board of Directors of Gram Vaani a product of succesful collaboration between IIT Delhi and the University of Waterloo.
Saran has also collaborated in the past with AT&T Research and Lucent Bell Labs which he visited six times during 1993-2000 as a consultant., Dr Saran has also been a consultant during 2004-2010 to Solidcore Inc, an Systems Security Startup. During this time he helped define and build a novel software protection technology for critical servers and embedded products. Solidcore Inc was purchased by Mcafee in for its pathbreaking Dynamic Whitelisting technology.
