The University of Bath received its Royal Charter in 1966, however, its roots can be traced back to the Bristol Trade School of 1856. The University is recognised by the United States Government, and has links and exchanges with prestigious Higher Education institutions in Europe, North and South America; and Asia at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

With an international reputation for research and teaching at the highest academic standard, the University has a small, friendly campus near the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. The University runs a series of language and arts courses in collaboration with colleges across Wiltshire. It delivers a programme of free public lectures in Bath, and offers a range of foundation degrees. 

The University of Bath ranks highly in the league tables of UK universities published by a number of national newspapers, including the Times, Independent and Guardian. Its research is internationally-respected.
