Swinburne University of Technology was established in 1908 as the 'Eastern Suburbs Technical College' and has since grown from being a local provider of technical education into a multidiscipline, multicampus provider of higher education of national and international significance. The university got its present name in the year 1992. Swinburne is the only Australian university invited to be a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), which aims to foster student and staff mobility and share innovative programs to give students a competitive edge in today’s global employment market.
