About the University of Sussex :
The University of Sussex was the first of the new wave of universities founded in the 1960s, receiving its Royal Charter in August 1961. Nearly 50 years on, the University has become a leading teaching and research institution.
In the 2010 Times Higher Education magazine's World University Rankings, Sussex is ranked 8th in the UK, 16th in Europe and 79th in the world, setting us alongside some of the world's most prestigious institutions.
Innovative research and scholarship
Sussex is a leading research university, as reflected in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Over 90 per cent of Sussex research activity was rated as world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised, confirming the University among the leading 30 research universities in the UK, on a simple average across all scores. 18 subjects rank in the top 20 for research in the UK, across the arts, sciences and social sciences, with American studies ranked number 1 in the UK, Politics number 2, and Art history number 3.

Welcome to the School of Business : The School of Business, Management and Economics is a unique research focused business school, which takes a strong policy-directed view on business practices while also developing the underlying core disciplines. The School is exceptionally well placed to provide leadership in the development and dissemination of sustainable business and management practice, informed by sound economic logic.
University of Sussex has been created to engage with the new challenges facing business and economics in the second decade of the 21st century. Forming the foundation of our values is an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, responsible business and the fight against inequality.
School of Engineering and Design : We are a general engineering school and cover various aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering and product design.
We aim to provide degrees that are attractive to both home and international students and to create graduates that are sought by leading industrialists. The School is developing rapidly and we are developing collaboration with many key industrial and academic partners in addition to developing new degrees, such as the MSC in Biomedical engineering. The School offers high-quality teaching and world-class research in an exciting and supportive learning environment. Our portfolio of taught degrees builds on our research expertise and is informed by industrial requirements
Sussex Medical School : righton and Sussex Medical School offers a dynamic, innovative undergraduate programme, awarded by the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, that will prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities once you have qualified as a doctor.
We also offer research degrees, and taught postgraduate courses aimed at working doctors and senior health professionals.
BSMS is a partnership between the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, and as such, benefits from the universities’ distinctive traditions and shared strengths in biomedical sciences, healthcare and professional education.
We also work closely with the health trust and our collaboration with local hospitals and clinicians gives students an early insight into the practicalities of multidisciplinary team working.
