About Holy Names University

Holy Names University (HNU) was founded by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1868 on the shores of Lake Merritt. In 1957, the Holy Names University was moved from Lake Merritt to a wooded, sixty-acre site in the Oakland Hills. Holy Names University academic community committed to the full development of each student, Holy Names University offers a liberal education rooted in the Catholic tradition, empowering a diverse student body for leadership and service in a complex world. Holy Names University students can choose from 19 bachelor’s degree programs, eight master’s degree programs and five degree completion programs (for adults). Holy Names University is consistently ranked as one of the most diverse universities in the country and received the highest accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (2005 – 2015). The Holy Names campus provides a close-knit, supportive environment that allows for rigorous learning and personal development. School & College in Holy Names University

School of Nursing: Programs (except the MSN/MBA) are completed by attending classes once a month for four days, with the ability to complete clinical experiences close to home. Our programs can be pursued at a distance via video interactive conferencing at select hospitals.
The MSN program also requires:

    * A Bachelor of Science degree (if you have a bachelor’s degree in another field, you are eligible for HNU’s Pathways Program)
    * Two letters of recommendation
    * Statement of purpose (an explanation of why you are a good fit the for the program
    * Proof of completion of your RN license
