School of Business At Hofstra University : Located on Long Island, New York, the Zarb School of Business offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate students the opportunity to study in a suburban environment that is within close proximity to New York City. While pursuing their studies at Hofstra University of Business school, which is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, our students are able to participate in a wide variety of activities and cultural events on campus, as well as take advantage of the rich diversity of activities and business opportunities available on Long Island and Manhattan. The Zarb School encourages both undergraduate and graduate students to take advantage of a wide variety of internships so that they will gain valuable experience in preparation for their business careers.Throughout all Zarb School of Business programs, the importance of lifelong education, ethics in business, an awareness of global issues and concern for the environment are emphasized. School of Medicine At Hofstra University : In 2006 the Association of American Medical Colleges, citing population increases, a doubling of the number of citizens over the age of 65 between 2000 and 2030, and an aging physician workforce, recommended that medical school enrollment be increased by 30% by 2015. Concurrently, the Hofstra University and the Health System each had reached a rapid-growth stage of development at which collaborating to develop a nationally renowned medical school became a highly attractive and advantageous endeavor. Aligned in their institutional visions, Hofstra University and the North Shore-LIJ Health System began to explore the advantages of collaborating to create an innovative and outstanding school of medicine.Dr. Lawrence Smith, nationally recognized for his visionary leadership in medicine and medical education, was appointed as Founding Dean of the School of Medicine. Dr. Smith also serves, and will continue to serve, as Chief Medical Officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, thus ensuring a unified effort in creating and sustaining a successful partnership, as well as seamless integration of classroom and clinical experiences.
