CEO and founder
Chander provides a unique combination of leadership in open source and cloud storage software. He has been involved in both the technology and business sides of open source software and was named one of the "Top 20 Linux Luminaries" by Linux World Magazine in 2004. Prior to Zmanda, Chander founded and ran LinuxCertified, Inc., an open source product and services company.

Earlier in his career, Chander was a business development executive at VERITAS software and served as the product line manager for storage software at SGI. Chander holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and a BS in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Zmanda's innovations include technology to backup data from live applications and databases directly to a storage cloud. Zmanda Cloud Backup (ZCB) backs up a Windows

DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS:
Zmanda offers non-proprietary backup and recovery software. These are at a fraction of the prices of its competitors. Our customers will always be able to recover their data whether they are running our software or not. We provide native support for cloud storage as an alternative for tapes for off-site backups and disaster recovery.
REVENUE MODEL:
We provide our software and cloud storage on a subscription basis (monthly, yearly or multi-year) and also offer services and training.
WHAT NEXT?
Zmanda is a leader in cloud backup and we are continuing to innovate in leveraging cloud storage for data protection. We will also start offering products and services based on OpenStack Swift (open source cloud storage software) which will aid hosting/service providers to backup their customers' data to their own storage. New releases of Zmanda Enterprise and ZRMare also forthcoming.
