About us
Vortex is a provider of low power consuming ATMs tailor-made for semi-urban and rural areas. Built on years of R&D in collaboration with IIT Madras, and with a steady focus on rural needs, Vortex is now changing the face of banking with its GramatellerATMs. Vortex is the pioneer of RuralATMs, which operate efficiently in no-frills locations in remote regions, at a fraction of cost of a conventional ATM while not compromising on the security and functionality of a traditional ATM. The company holds many patents for the 100 percent indigenously designed and developed Gramateller Duo ATM. The company has already deployed more than 500 rural ATMs for State Bank of India, and is deploying ATMs in rural and semi urban locations for other banks including Catholic Syrian Bank, Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Corporation Bank and many more.

Vijay Babu,
Vijay Babu has more than 20 years of experience working in start-ups and established companies. He was previously VP & Head, Technology, Network Solutions Group, Sasken; prior to Sasken he was Co-founder, President and COO of iSoftTech; iSoftTech was acquired by Sasken in 2006. iSoftTech was one of the pioneers in providing Product Development Outsourcing services to companies abroad. He grew it profitably from scratch to about $2.5M of annual revenues. Prior to iSoftTech, he was the Technical Director,Asia Pacific,MTL Instruments Group plc. UK, & was on the board of its Indian subsidiary. He was part of the early team that formed MTL in India. Prior to that, he founded two companies- Sentinel Technologies, and VisaSofts.

Vortex Gramateller range of ATMs has been designed & manufactured by Vortex Engineering. These are patented, Low Cost, Low power Biometric ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) for banking & financial requirements of Indian rural and semi urban market. These ATMs have helped many banks to reach to unbanked population to achieve banking and financial inclusion requirements. It is compact and a space of 4' X 7' is enough for the use of the machine and it also has the unique feature of having back-up of up to 8 hours built inside the ATM with no additional space footprint.Since theATMdoes not need air-conditioning and it consumes only very little power, it does not need special electrical wiring-it requires only one 5A socket. Gramateller Duo can also be easily deployed using solar power, in regions facing acute power shortage. It is currently deployed across almost all states of India and has proven its reliability in the extreme conditions of deserts as well as hill stations without any air-conditioning.
