Atrenta
About us
Atrenta's SpyGlass Predictive Analysis software platform significantly improves design efficiency for the world's leading semiconductor and consumer electronics companies. Patented solutions provide early design insight into the demanding performance, power and area requirements of the complex system on chips (SoCs) fueling today's consumer electronics revolution. More than two hundred companies and thousands of design engineers worldwide rely on SpyGlass to reduce risk and cost before traditional EDA tools are deployed. SpyGlass functions like an interactive guidance system for design engineers and managers, finding the fastest and least expensive path to implementation for complex SoCs.
FOUNDED:

FOUNDED BY:
Dr. Ajoy Bose
KEY PERSON:
Dr. Ajoy Bose
Chairman, President and CEO
Dr. Bose founded Atrenta in 2001. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, N.J. and spent 12 years in a series of increasingly responsible positions ending as Department Head, Integrated Circuit Design Automation Department. From AT&T, hemoved to Cadence Design Systems where he served as Vice President of Engineering. In this role, hemanaged and led the team that pioneered the Verilog simulation products. Prior to establishing Atrenta,Dr . Bosewas founder and president of Software and Technologies, and Interra. During his tenure as Chairman and CEO of Interra, Dr. Bose incubated and spun out a number of successful ventures in EDA, Digital Video, and IT services. Dr. Bose received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India which recently awarded him the Distinguished Alumni award. He earned his MS and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

PRODUCT OFFERINGS:
Atrenta's SpyGlass, GenSys and BugScope product families of SoC Realization tools enhance the entire system development cycle - from architectural planning to physical implementation. The family includes:
  • SpyGlass (Static and structural RTL checks)
  • SpyGlass DFT (Design for test at RTL)
  • SpyGlass Power (Power analysis and reduction at RTL)
  • SpyGlass CDC (Comprehensive clock domain crossing verification)
  • SpyGlass Constraints (Complete design constraints management)
  • SpyGlass Physical (Modeling of physical implementation at RTL)
  • GenSys Assembly (High-level automated chip assembly)
  • BugScope (Dynamic functional verification at RTL)
WHAT NEXT?:
Atrenta focuses exclusively on the SoC Realization portion of the EDAmarket. This is the highest growth segment, and Atrenta is consistently adding new products to expand its support. Recently, the company acquired NextOp Software, a high-level verification optimization company. Beyond expanding into verification, Atrenta is making great strides to support high-level chip assembly, platform-based design and IP reuse. These areas will provide substantial growth opportunities for the company in the years ahead.
REVENUE MODEL:
Atrenta licenses its software with a time-based, renewable model. The company has seen eight consecutive years of revenue growth.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS:
Atrenta focuses on the early part of the 'system-on-chip '(SoC) design cycle. We call this portion of the process SoC Realization. The market Atrenta serves sites above the current mainstream EDA market, and this makes Atrenta unique. Most EDA tools focus on the detailed design and physical implementation of the SoC. While these tasks are quite important, it becomes very difficult to optimize a design during this late stage of development. The complexity of SoCs makes it very difficult. Working at an earlier stage of the development cycle offers far more opportunity for optimization. Atrenta is the broadest supplier of tools for this early market segment.
