Indian American Entrepreneur Aakash Patel and his father Minesh Patel will lead the region’s Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

FREMONT, CA: A father-son duo will lead the Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Tampa, Florida. It is a historical moment for the organization.

The founder and president of Elevate Inc., Aakash Patel, got a board position on the chamber effective Jan. 1, where he will work alongside Minesh Patel, his father, who has been a board member since 2006.

Aakash Patel says that it is an honor to serve on the Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board, especially with his dad by his side. Both of them also have experienced being entrepreneurs at different times in Tampa Bay’s history. As a millennial, he has a unique perspective, but one thing remains the same. They both agree there’s nothing more rewarding than helping to grow their business community.

Patel’s father is residing in Tampa Bay for over 25 years, after emigrating from Uganda. He is the CEO of an international business development consultancy, PBP International Inc. He is also an investor in different established ventures, start-ups, and real estate development companies in Florida and other parts of the world.

When Aakash was 27 years old, he started following his father’s footsteps, and then in 2012, he founded. His company offers strategic business and target networking consulting to help business people learn, connect, and grow in the business community.

Last year, Aakash Patel was also named Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce “Businessman of the Year” for his contributions as a millennial entrepreneur.

The chamber has also named Dipa Shah as chair of its board. Shah is the first woman in history to serve in that role. Shah mentioned that becoming the first woman to chair the Indo-US Chamber of Commerce Board is humbling and a real privilege.

Founded in 1999, the organization unites Asian American entrepreneurs and professionals and to exchange ideas and enhance their businesses through education and community involvement.
