Cooking is a delightful hobby if you’re really into that magical spirits. It’s about giving even the slightest of attention to the minor things. Cooking teaches you the essence of discipline, patience and love in life through the dishes. Following the challenging recipes from across the globe and trying it in your kitchen is indeed a cheerful task even if you’re an expert or a rookie in this.

But, ever wondered why a 50 minutes recipe takes you more than an hour to finish? It’s probably because of the crazy but essential life hacks these proven cooks or chefs use that can reduce the time for the process. The below mentioned practical kitchen hacks will save you decent amount of energy, time and money with very less efforts. Read ahead and thank me later Master Chefs! [$$$$]

Getting Eggshells Out of the Bowl

Even if you’re an expert or a pro in cooking/baking, the chances you come across this situation are high. For beginners, picking those eggshells out of the bowl is a daily exercise for sure. And honestly, it’s a pesky job especially when you’re really in a hurry. Poking the eggshells for more than a minute is the last thing you wanted to do to make your day worse.

Tip: To overcome this silly but annoying issue, just make your fingers wet and try picking the eggshells out. This will also pick out the little egg shell bits to your fingers.[$$$$]

Cutting Cakes in a Joyous Way

I know it’s his/her birthday, so you really don’t want to make him/her feel bad on his/her cake cutting skills. In the end, the slice you get is the messiest of them all, just makes you even irritated. But cutting cake can be handled with ease.

Tip: Use an unscented dental floss to cut cakes, cheeses, pastries and other softies to cut them perfectly. Make sure the dental floss is unscented as scented ones can ruin the flavor. Also as an alternate method, use a warm knife to cut cake perfectly.[$$$$]

Home-Made Burgers can be Made Thin as Well

Ever wondered why the home made burgers are super thick than the ones you get at your favorite restaurant or the burger-chains? The thick patties can be one of the reasons, as the thick hamburgers are really tough to cook and eat as well.

Tip: Make a tiny hole at the center of the burger patties before you cook them. This simple solution will not only cook the patty faster, but also makes it easier to eat at the end. Don’t worry, the hole will close up during the cooking process and it won’t be visible while you’re having it.[$$$$]

Softening the Butter

Serving butter that is hard as a rock is just like insulting the guests at your dinner party. Most of the time, we realize that the butter is hard at the dying seconds of the time and of course people panic here. But this too has a solution to save you at the right time.

Tip 1: Warm up a small glass and put it on the top of the butter. Heat up the glass by pouring warm water over it or by keeping it in the microwave for a few seconds. This will make the butter soften in seconds by keeping it at the right level to easily cut and spread.

Tip 2: Using three toothpicks, create a tripod with spearing the butter. Microwave the butter and when it’s adequately soft, the tripod will collapse. Pull the butter out of the microwave cause it’s softened.[$$$$]

Baking Soda or Baking Powder: Good to Use?

Suppose all of a sudden you have to bake something, and guess what, using the old baking soda or baking powder is obviously a question you might be asking yourself especially if you are not sure of its effectiveness. Always be aware of the effectiveness as an ineffective soda or powder can definitely ruin the recipe big time.

FYI, the baking sodas usually doesn’t come with the expiration dates. Hence, these tips can be really helpful for you.

Tip 1: Mix a teaspoon of baking powder into a half cup of hot water, if it bubbles you’re good to use them.

Tip 2:  Add a quarter of a teaspoon of baking soda into two teaspoons of vinegar, if it bubbles you can use the baking soda.
