Saraswati Dot Com was started on 23rd October, 2000 by a woman entrepreneur Mrs. Susheela Chauhan as a sole proprietorship concern with a meager investment of Rs. 3,00,000/- at a rented space of 150 sq.ft. at New Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (India). She was supported by two employees and part time help by her husband Mr. D.N. Chauhan who was working with an NGO as a consultant at that point of time. The enterprise was registered with Department of Industries, Himachal Pradesh as a Small Service and Business Establishment for Software Development, Data Entry/Data Processing, Website Development and Computer Education/Training.

The enterprises faced many challenges and operational losses during initial two years due to tough competition in an immature Information technology market. However, the enterprise gained a good reputation with the clients due to timely completion of projects with the best quality of work. This helped sustain the enterprise. As a result, the enterprise could manage to hire a bigger space of 1300 sq.ft area nearby and expanded the infrastructure. It gained further momentum and in January 2007, a new facility at Software Technology Park of India, SDA Complex, Kasumpti, Shimla was created. This was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, IAS, Secretary (Information Technology), Government of Himachal Pradesh on 6th January 2007.
