DLI had already established leading Genetic & Molecular Laboratory,
which made the creation of a bioinformatics center a natural
progression. DLI began making plans to secure funding in 2006.
The GGC approved 24 Lacks Rs from the state to help fund the development of the DLI Bioinformatics Institute at Hyderabad. This was the only funding given to the Institute before its opening.
