Yahoo's New Unlikely Source Of Revenue: Google

Bangalore: Yahoo has announced an advertising deal with the search engine giant, Google; where ads from Google will be appearing on certain Yahoo’s websites. The deal has come just seven months after Marissa Mayer, one of the former Google’s top executives, took over as CEO at Yahoo.

Yahoo revealed the details of the new deal via a blog post yesterday. It has stated that it will team up with Google on contextual advertising as it has signed a global, non-exclusive deal with Google to display ads on various Yahoo sites and certain other co-branded sites.

Within the deal, the ‘non-exclusive deal’ means that Yahoo plans on forging similar advertising deals with other companies subsequently. Later, Yahoo will be seen using ads derived from Google’s AdSense and AdMob services.

"By adding Google to our list of world-class contextual ads partners, we'll be able to expand our network, which means we can serve users with ads that are even more meaningful," said the company in its blog post.

Meanwhile Yahoo said that its users won’t be affected by a difference in how or where ads appear.
