Yahoo receives Mphasis universal design award for accessibility

Bangalore: Yahoo India R&D has been awarded National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) - Mphasis universal design award for their work towards the cause of Accessibility. Shouvick Mukherjee, Vice President & Head, Yahoo India Research & Development, said "Yahoo is committed to making modifications across the Yahoo Network to ensure that people with disabilities can access our properties and enjoy the same kind of relevant, wow experiences that we offer to everyone. This Award truly recognizes our commitment to Accessibility." Yahoo India R&D is one of the very few companies to have a state-of-the-art Accessibility Lab in Bangalore, which evaluates all Yahoo products for Accessibility. This lab works closely with the global Accessibility team in Sunnyvale and is fully equipped with different assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, track ball, switch, speech recognition software and screen reader for mobile, giving employees the opportunity to try different technologies and incorporate these considerations into their daily work.
