HYSEA announces the "Software Products' Showcase and Awards-2008"

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA) has announced that the Software Products' Showcase and Awards-2008. The event that will take place on Saturday, 7th March 2009 at Hyderabad, offers a unique opportunity for startups to network with Indian and MNC product companies, and also interact with the VCs and Academia from the support eco-systems.
The event aims to showcase and recognize innovative products and high potential Startups in Hyderabad, with the goal to attract visibility to the products development activities here. The program will include demos and presentations of products built in Hyderabad, both by domestic and MNC companies and deliberate through the day on how to further accelerate the innovation and production work in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, M. Narsimha Rao, President, HYSEA/ VP and Centre Head, Infosys said, "The software industry in Hyderabad is very vibrant with the range of activities across the software spectrum including, software product. HYSEA has been recognizing this in the form of Annual Products Awards, since 2002. We see this as a space to efficiently expand the Industry scope and business."
Nominations had been called for five major categories of - Startups, Portals, MNC, Established Indian and Social Impact. The nominations are from various domains & verticals including mobile applications, Infrastructure products, manufacturing, FMCG, health care, NGOs, State Government departments and IT service providers. Around 111 nominations, including an encouraging number of about 60 startups (products & portals); have been received for the award. Almost fifty nominations have been finalized and short listed for the Demo presentation and public showcase.
The event is open to all VCs, angel investors, incubation cells in academic institutions, Senior Managers from industry engaged in products/frameworks/IP creations and aspiring startups. The event will also include talks by successful entrepreneurs, VCs, Product architects and VCs on various topics on product development.
The evening finale will have a panel discussion on the topic 'Software Products & Innovation /Opportunity Enablers and Challenges' followed by the HYSEA Annual Awards Function. Kiran Karnik, Chairman, Board of Directors, Satyam Computer Services will be the Chief Guest and Ajay Mishra, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh, Information Technology & Communication Department will grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.
Ramesh Loganathan, MD - Progress Software & coordinator HYSEA Software Product Forum said, "There is a lot of innovation and product development activity already underway. But this is a largely unknown aspect about the industry in Hyderabad. Through this showcase, we hope to draw attention and also get recognition for the large number of product companies and startups."
