Bangalore: Most of the chief executives globally believe that business environment is unstable and increasingly complex. Almost eight in ten CEOs interviewed in a survey expect their businesses to grow more complicated over the next five years, but 49 percent believe their organizations are equipped to deal with it. The study, IBM 2010 Global CEO, has found that the increasingly interconnected world has resulted in a new economic environment that is more volatile and risky, and less predictable. For instance, CEOs expect revenue from new sources to double over the next five years and 76 percent of CEOs foresee the shift of economic power to rapidly developing markets. Creativity was singled out as the top leadership quality CEOs thought would help overcome the challenges. This was followed by integrity and global thinking. The global CEO Study found that technology has become a part of daily lives and it is driving big changes in the business environment and businesses are seeing the need to leverage on technology to succeed in an inter-connected world. The findings also showed that the expected impact of technology on organizations has risen from sixth to second place in importance over the past eight years. The survey, done every two years, involved face-to-face interviews with 1,541 senior management leaders in the private and public sectors across 60 countries, economies and 33 industries.
