World's Worst Dictators

Kim Il-Sung:

Kim Il-Sung was the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, commonly referred to as North Korea. He also sent his army to South Korea and caused a civil war between North Korea and South Korea. This was also referred as the Korean war, and lasted for 3 years. Following his death in 1994, he was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-il, who then was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-un.

Kim Il-Sung forced everybody in North Korea to wear a badge of him. His term as leader of North Korea has often been described as autocratic. He said that he could turn sand into rice, claimed that he could cross rivers on leaves, and erected 30,000 monuments to himself. Kim also established Juche, or self-reliance, which cut off trade, travel and cultural exchange with the west almost completely and this turned North Korea into a failing state.
