With XP's Deadline On Brink And 95 Pct ATMs On It, RBI Warns Banks


 According to NCR, the largest supplier of ATM from the U.S, said that the newer ATM’s are capable of doing the upgrade remotely but the older ones require it to be done physically.

As per financial times, Microsoft conducted a funded survey by Ascentius consulting which said 40 to 70 percent of the computers at public service banks and financial institutions run on Windows XP are at a greater risk in India. The report says 34,115 banks face security threats.

However, Microsoft India’s General Manager of Windows Business Group, Mr. Amrish Goyal, said that, many of the Indian banks have shown interests in switching to windows 7 or the 8.1.

Microsoft denied commenting on the ongoing conversion process of XP, but recommends that the banks speak to the financial institutions to determine the status and condition of the systems they are currently using.
