Will Intel Conquer The Mobility Space?


The company is looking to increase the shipping to about 40 million tablets equipped with its chips this year. The chips are claimed to be engineered best for mobility, as it captures the right amalgamation of power, performance and price.

The Intel Atom will be used to power tablets and two-in-one (can be used as a laptop as well as a tablet); while the Intel Celeron and Pentiums will be used on entry level two-in-ones, laptops, desktops and all-in-ones. In India, Intel is specifically targeting the 7-10 inch screen size tablets that would fall in the Rs 15,000-30,000 price band.

Intel’s Bay Trail has already been used in tablets such as Asus Fonepad 7 and Acer W4. With stiff competition from Qualcomm, and Samsung, it needs to be seen if Intel will dominate the booming tablet market as it did the PC world.
