Will Google Get $4 billion From Microsoft?
Bangalore: Google is using each and every patent authority it got from acquiring Motorola Mobility to attack its rivals worldwide. In the latest one, an expert from Google’s Motorola mobility testified on the last day of trials over patents between the tech giants that Microsoft will make $94 billion in revenue through 2017 from its Xbox game console and Surface tablet that use Google's patented wireless technology.
However according to Reuters, it is not clear, how much will the U.S. District Judge order Microsoft Corp to pay Google as royalty. Microsoft argues that rival deserves just over $1 million a year in defense to a $4 billion sought by Motorola mobility.
Michael Dansky, the Google’s expert had earlier told that the testimony could be disclosed to public along with other financial information. However, the district judge reversed him and on Tuesday, heard the two hour testimony in secret.
"You will have a difficult time selling smart phones or tablets," Dansky said, without Motorola's technology.
The judge will now allow both companies to file further legal briefs, before release the ruling. According to Reuters, if the judge decides that Google deserves only a small royalty, then the Motorola patents, acquired for $12.5 billion by Google, will inturn prove to be a weaker play card for the search giant.
