Amidst the efforts to solve the interparty conflict, the Congress tried to hit back at the opposition and said the BJP is betraying its frustration and failure to capture power. "It is improper to pronounce a judgment on a sub-judice matter. But the BJP is making the judgement left, right and centre," said Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Though the congress said the matter is closed, the opposition is in no mood to shift the focus off the issue. Main opposition BJP is seen accelerating its pressure on the government and asked the PM to stop defending Chidambaram. Rubbishing the damage-control statement from the finance minister, BJP said the huge loss could have been prevented if Chidambaram had taken correct decisions and the saffron party demanded for his immediate resignation. "BJP demands Chidambaram should resign and CBI should investigate the matter," said the party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad. The matter seems to be far from a possible end and the UPA house is deeply divided in opinion. As the big shoots are in the spotlight of this scandal and as the media is in a celebratory mood over the 2G issue, a miraculous resurrection seems to be impossible for the sinking UPA government.
