8. Largest Crew of a Canoe The "Snake Boat" Aries Punnamada Urukku Chundan of Alleppey, Kerala, India, measures 43.7 meters (143 feet, 4 inches) long. It had a crew of 143, which included 118 rowers, 2 rhythm men, 5 helmsmen and 18 singers, and was rowed in public in Kerala on May 1, 2008. Aries Chundan is the longest steel made snake boat and a masterpiece design of Aries Marine. Several international dignitaries including representatives of RINA, Italy and Germanischer Lloyd, Germany who listed Cochin for ShipTek 2008 have witnessed the rowing of Aries Chundan held at the Punnamada Lake. Members of Legislative Assembly, Thomas Chandy and K.K Shaju inaugurated the Guinness attempt of Aries Chundan. Sohan Roy S.K, CEO Aries Group was also present for the occasion.
