According to an article in 'The Hindu' titled 'Creating Baba Ramdev' by Smita Gupta, he started his journey as a yoga instructor with his clientele compromising mostly of the upper end of the social spectrum. It also states that he is closely associated with many RSS sympathizers like Ved Prakash Vaidik, S Gurumurthy and the senior BJP ideologue K.Govindacharya who's Bharat Swabhiman Trust along with the RSS have played a major role in mobilizing people for his fasting camp.
