Valley of flowers in Uttarakhand was declared as a national park in 1982. The park extends over 87.5 square kilometers. The place is located in the northern state of Uttarakhand, bordered by Nepal and Tibet. The Valley of Flowers is only open from April to October because it is covered in snow the rest of the year. Best time to visit this scenic place is from July to August, when the flowers are in full bloom after the first monsoon rain. The Himalayan Valley has around 300 different varieties of alpine flowers, which appear as a bright carpet of color against a mountainous snow capped background. It is an ideal destination for trekking.
