Mahesh Bhatt , filmmaker feels that corruption is something which can't actually be treated through a bill. He also opposes the centralization of power in the hands of a small appointed body and believes that democracy is served by destabilizing power. Bhatt equates the polarization of the bill (Government's bill or Anna's Jan Lokpal bill) as autocratic as ex-U.S. president George Bush's stance of You are either with us or against us. When Bhatt started speaking about Anna's huge support he pointed that Youngsters backing Hazare are non-introspecting and have not studied the issue at all. The proposed Jan Lokpal Bill will have no accountability and will not conform to the democratic society. Methods adopted by Hazare to press his demand have an element of coercion, as he has left no room for discussion, debate and exchange of views. There is no true representation of civil society in the Joint Committee. Anna has adopted an authoritarian approach, he said.

Bhatt also questioned Anna's Gandhisim: Isn't what happened in Gujarat a case of moral corruption? The police is providing him protection fearing reaction from Anna supporters. How could he praise Narendra Modi for prosperity of Gujarat and not talk about the need to root out the menace of communal corruption? Until and unless you address the problem of communalism, this movement will not succeed," he added. Citing personal experience in opposing Anna's Jan Lokpal bill, Bhatt stated that "I am against the Jan Lokpal bill and the government's bill. Those who speak against Anna's movement are tagged as corrupt. When I opposed Anna's bill people started using abusive language. This is definitely not a non-violent protest. But just because I don't support you does not mean I support corruption"
