The Anuraag Kashyap's film is based on a book written by S Hussian Zaidi "Black Friday- the true story of Bombay bomb blasts." The Bombay high court blocked the release of the movie until the final judgment of the 1993 bomb blast was delivered. It took nearly two years to release it in the theatres and finally, the movie hit the screens on February 9, 2007.
