This is a Mira Nair movie which was released in theaters in 1996. She had to face a lot of controversies as the sexual content in the movie was not encouraged. She had to go to the court for the approval of the movie release. There were huge arguments regarding obscenity the movie has portrayed. The uncensored movie was released in foreign countries and in India the 2 minutes of nakedness was cut off.
