Vellore: Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campus Wi-Fi network has deployed Motorola's enterprise wireless LAN technology throughout its 350-acre campus. VIT, one of the largest private universities in south Asia, selected Motorola partners Avaya Globalconnect and Vellore Online to unwire the campus across all indoor and outdoor spaces. The expertise offered by this threefold partnership ensures that the network is designed to provide secure un-tethered wireless voice and data internet access to students and faculty alike. Additionally high-speed wireless bridging will be enabled between multiple education buildings and facilities spread across the campus. During the inauguration ceremony, Motorola has unveiled the new Wireless Applications Lab in VIT. This learning center encourages university students to explore creative projects, develop mobility applications and solve specific industry problems. The wireless lab will serve as a continuous education gateway in facilitating guest faculty to provide valuable exposure and hands-on advice from industry experts. The network uses RFS7000 WLAN Switch, a wireless LAN switch that can integrate Wi-Fi, mesh wireless, RFID and other emerging RF technologies, in combination with mesh-enabled 802.11a/b/g AP-5131 and 802.11a/b/g AP300 for indoor coverage ensuring the network delivers exceptional value and optimum performance. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the campus wide network and Wireless Applications Lab launch, Sujai Hajela, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise WLAN, Motorola Enterprise Mobility business said, "We are pleased to share our global experiences from previous large campus wireless deployments to help VIT, realize their vision for a campus wide secure, reliable, scalable and high-performance Wi-Fi network." "It is a great development for the students and faculty of VIT University. VIT University campus has been a Wi-fi enabled campus and Motorola’s wireless network is a feather in the cap, enabling full mobility and access to the students. We are honored to have Motorola's VP with us to inaugurate the facility and interact with our students to share his technical and management experience," expressed G Viswanathan, Chancellor, VIT University.
