FREMONT: Dr. Agarwal started his academic career as a faculty member with McGill University, Montreal in 1978. Over the next fourteen years, he put McGill on the global map as the top university for excellence in research and teaching in semiconductor testing. In the process he published more than 100 research papers, was appointed to the endowed Nortel/NSERC Industrial Research Chair Professorship, and elected to the Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE). He also served as a consultant to Nortel Networks, Hitachi, Ltd. and Eastman Kodak Company for developing their semiconductor test environment. Dr. Agarwal will be presented the siliconindia leadership award for Entrepreneurship, at a dinner banquet following the siliconindia Annual Conference to be held on November 16 at The Westin Hotel, Santa Clara. LogicVision is the first and the largest commercial provider of embedded test technology for semiconductor industry. The basic idea behind LogicVision is that the semiconductors should be able to test themselves instead of being tested externally. The conventional external approach to testing costs the industry and the consumers tens of billions of dollars annually. Innovations pioneered by Dr. Agarwal and his team have made it possible to perform sophisticated testing of complex chips all from within - technology called embedded test. With customers such as Intel, Sun Microsystems, LSI Logic, Sony, Broadcom, Agere and Cisco, LogicVision has become the standard for embedded test. Dr. Agarwal received a B.E.
