Washington: The US India Business Council (USIBC) has made the announcement that it is going to launch an Indian awareness campaign among lawmakers, the business community and the general public. While the U.S. economy continues to strengthen, the council's message to Congress and the American people is that India is open for business, and the opportunities on the table represent a ''win-win'' opportunity that benefits both economies, according to USIBC President Ron Somers. Called "Introduction to India", the public education initiative aims to reach out to Members of Congress, the business community, and the wider public about USIBC''s mandate and efforts to strengthen the U.S.-India commercial relationship, a statement said. The council's two-way trade is close to $50 billion annually and is growing at a good rate. The strategic partnership between the U.S. and India rests on the successful growth of commercial ties between the world's two largest free-market democracies. USIBC was founded in 1975 at the request of the governments of the U.S. and India to deepen trade and strengthen commercial ties.
