Use mobile to pay your utility bills!

Mumbai: BillDesk, a bill payment service provider has plans to launch a platform for people to make utility bill payments through mobile phones.
"In the next three to six months, we will come out with a mobile payment platform which will ensure a safe payment to utilities like electricity or phone companies," M N Srinivasu, Director IndiaIdeas.com, the company offering services under BillDesk told PTI.
"There are only about 25,000 people who today use mobile to carry out some payment transaction which we see rising to a million in the next two to three years," he added.
The company which was launched in 2000, today operates bank-centric payment service for over 40 banks and 150 billing institutions with an estimated five million consumers. It helps consumers to pay through internet or ATMs using internet banking, credit cards or direct debit with over two lakh transactions taking place every month.
With a staff of over 600 people, BillDesk is currently operating in 62 cities. Along with utility payment it also offers services for tax payment and donations to charity.
