U.S. Adults Go Online for No Reason

Bangalore: People mostly go online for no reason, reveals a study. There is no good reason most of the time for majority of young adults to go online.
People under 30 are wasting time on internet browsing. The report from Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project found that on any day 53 percent of 18 to 29 year olds go online just for a pass time. The report says, the time spent on just using internet for no reason corresponds with age. Only 12 percent people of above 65 years say they went online just for having some fun on web. 27 percent of people between age group 50 to 64 answered yes to the same question.
In total there are 58 percent of adults seldom using internet to relax or have fun. Out of all adults, three quarter of the adults surf web without any reason. The survey didnt define fun as the term may differ from one person to another. For few it can be gossip blogs and for other it might be a serious research.
A phone survey was also conducted by Pew among 2,260 American adults.
