Bangalore: According to a new report in readwriteweb, Twitter has hired Microsoft search engine Bing's 'Principal Scientist' Alek Kolcz this week. Kolcz worked for AOL prior to his five-year tenure at Microsoft working on Bing, as well as various projects on Live Labs/Microsoft Research. Kolcz's name is reportedly seen in the employee list of Twitter, although he has not changed his profile anywhere on the web. His Twitter account, twitter.com/zorbageek, is protected and it is not accessible to general users. The ReadWriteWeb report says "He appears to have a special affinity for spam crushing, something Twitter must struggle with a whole lot. As use of the service grows, so too will the importance of its search - especially given the very public nature of Twitter's data." Of late, Microsoft has lost many good talents including Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell, Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie, office unit head Stephen Elop, and Server Unit head Bob Muglia. LinkedIn says Ko?cz will be the 8th former Microsoft employee at Twitter.
