Bangalore: Internet has become a necessity for many people and organizations. It has become more and more difficult for IT administrators to keep a tab on the internet activity of employees. Cyber criminals have been successful in planting malware in the phenomenal amount of things on the internet. Your friends Facebook account might be hacked and the image on the profile might contain malware or the next bit.ly link you click on Twitter might provide entry to a deadly trojan horse to enter your computer.
In order to fight modern day internet security war, Trend Micro has launched a new product called Web Gateway Security which will helps companies to enhance URL filtering and expand the database on blacklisted websites. This tool will empower the IT administrators to keep a stricter tab on the employee's internet activity. The dashboard will give the administrator almost real-time look at the users, the traffic and the sites being downloaded across the entire network with just a glance.
Many companies are constantly keeping a check on the incoming mails and data that goes in and out to keep a tab on pornography as well as to protect the company's database. Also, recently there was a report that social networking sites like Facebook might reduce employee's productivity. In a recent survey of IT executives by Trend Micro, 75 percent said they were concerned about unauthorized online activities at work and that nearly 70 percent would consider prohibiting access to certain sites, such as shopping or social-networking properties. This survey also found one shocking fact that even after knowing the disadvantages of social networking websites, almost 42 percent say they're willing to accept the risks as they see social networking as something that will benefit the company in the long run.
