5. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
Located in the state of Kerela, Periyar wildlife sanctuary is renowned for the Asiatic elephants and horses. The sanctuary is also a home for gaur, horse deer, mouse deer, barking deer, Indian wild dogs, mongoose, leopards and Nilgiri tahr apart from 45 species of reptiles and 320 species of birds. The sactuary also treasures a beautiful lake in its heart.
