Top Cricketers Banned for Match Fixing

Ata-ur-Rehman Pakistan's medium-pacer Ata-ur-Rehman was found guilty of fixing matches and was slapped with a life ban from international cricket in 2000. Rehman who played 13 Tests and 30 ODIs from 1992 to 1996, accused Wasim Akram of paying him 100,000 Pakistani rupees to bowl badly in an ODI against New Zealand. ICC later lifted his ban in November 2006. Saleem Malik Former Pakistani captain and a right-hand batsman, Saleem Malik has played 103 test matches and 283 one days for the country scoring 5768 runs in test and 7170 runs in ODIs. His destiny was to go down in the history of cricket for match fixing accusations, only to be found innocent later. He received a life ban in 2000 on charges of match fixing thus becoming the first ever cricketer to be banned for such a crime. However, his ban was lifted on 3rd November, 2008 and was selected as the Chief Coach for Pakistan's National Cricket Academy just a few days later.
