For Cisco Systems it was a leap from 2010 to 2011 with 97.9 percent increase in its philanthropic activities. Last year it gave over $295 million in cash and products; though the total pretax profit of the company being $7,825,000,000, a lower than expected figure. Due to that the company was forced to reduce annual expenses and to cut around 3,000 employees with an early-retirement program. 

Cisco Systems is an American MNC, headquartered in San Jose, California, U.S., that designs, manufactures and sells networking equipment. In 2006 it had a massive rebranding campaign in which it adopted the shortened name ‘Cisco’ and this effort was to make Cisco a household brand. In 2012 the company received approval from European Union to acquire NDS (a TV software developer) for $5 billion, the largest external acquisition in Cisco’s history.

Goldman Sachs gave over $337 million in cash and products in the year 2011 out of its pretax profit of $6,169,000,000. It is 6.9 percent more than the previous years’ investing.

The American multinational investment banking firm, Goldman Sachs Group, engages in global investment banking, securities, investment management and other financial services primarily with institutional clients including corporations, governments and individuals.

The firm, founded in 1869 provides mergers and acquisitions advice, underwriting services, asset management and prime brokerage to its clients. It also engages in market making and private equity deals and it is a primary dealer in the United States Treasury Security Market.
