#8 Always-On, Always-Connected

Always-On, Always-Connected allows application connectivity when the device is on the “Standby Mode”. The new technology allows you to stay connected, with minimum energy consumption, continuously and automatically updating your email, favorite apps, and social networks.

This is designed in such a way that it updates programs by periodically waking up the computer from sleep/standby mode for a short time. It works with those applications that automatically get their data from the Internet, such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Windows Live Mail and Seesmic.

One of its features is that the amount of time it waits to wake the computer can be set using the slider bar under the Basic tab of the user interface. The time can be set from every five minutes to every 60 minutes. The longer time between updates, the less power the feature consumes.
