ThoughtWorks opens centre in Chennai

Chennai: U.S. based ThoughtWorks, a provider of information technology consultancy, has opened a development center in Chennai. The move is a part of expanding its operations in India. ThoughtWorks already has centers in Bangalore and Pune. The new center in Chennai will accommodate around 75 employees in the next six to eight months. The company has around 270 employees across the country and it will end the year with 350. Around 20 percent of the employees are recruited from colleges, Trevor Mather, CEO, ThoughtWorks, told press persons. ThoughtWorks offers services and products spanning the entire software development lifecycle, ranging from the birth of an idea through to development, he added. The company will end the calendar year with revenues of $160 million compared with $125 million last year. Revenue from India will be around $17 million ($10.5 million), Mather said.
