The World's 5 Best Places to Live In

4. Santa Cruz, Tenerife:

Santa Cruz is the capital of the island of Tenerife. Turn a few corners on the coast road and it feels like your in Spain. Santa Cruz is marvelously exotic. The long-lost recent economic boom has left its mark, with a new art gallery and public square by architects Herzog & De Meuron. The tourist-free city is big enough not to be dull and small enough to be manageable. It is about the size of Leicester, without its charms, although Santa Cruz does have dark, drowsy coffee bars full of old men playing dominos, as well as a brilliant food market, Nuestra Senora de Africa.

The place also has great beaches, the Las Teresitas being perhaps the best, a great coastline for a drive, and mountains for hiking. Café Numancia andCafé del Principe are a must visit hang outs.
