Peter Cuneo has led seven major turnarounds, which include Marvel, Remington, Black & Decker, Clairol, and many others. He joined Marvel Entertainment in 1999 as the CEO, when the company was fresh out of bankruptcy. He was the mastermind behind Marvel securing $525 million of nonrecourse debt to produce 10 motion pictures. He focused on expanding Marvel’s international business and helped the company adopt the licensing model for movies, TV, and consumer products.
Under his leadership the movies based on Marvel comics’ superheroes kept the cash register ringing. He fished out Marvel from a mere 94 cent a share to the present $54 a share. The company was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2009 for $4 billion.
