Bangalore: What makes some entrepreneur different from others? The enthusiasm that keeps him going on and on is the differentiating factor. One such entrepreneur is Sabeer Bhatia, the Indian American entrepreneur popularly known as the Hotmail co-founder, who did not stop with just a successful startup and then selling it to Microsoft. He went on with great ideas and sold the company at tidy prodigious amount. Bhatia did his schooling from The Bishop's School, Pune and St. Joseph's Boys High School in Bangalore. In 1986, he started off with his undergraduate education at the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) in Pilani and was transferred to California Institute of Technology after two years at BIT. Bhatia was inspired by Steve Jobs and Scott McNealy and wanted to become one himself. In 1994, he along with his Apple colleague Jack Smith, began working on new idea for the internet. While pursuing the idea, they realized the potential that the web-based e-mail system holds and decide to create one and named it HoTMaiL, the upper case letters spelling out HTML. With six months of its launch on July 4, 1996, the website attracted over four million subscribers. The increase interest in the area gained the notice of Microsoft and the company got acquired on Decemeber 30, 1997 for $400 million.
