Lovely Verma: 12 year old Lovely also died saving two of her friends in Uttar Pradesh. Her family still grieves her death. Rajesh Kumar Verma, Lovely’s father said “We are proud for what she did. But we lost our child.”

Amara Uday Kiran: The eight year old Amara from Andhra Pradesh saved a little girl from drowning. She too will be felicitated with the prestigious award on 26 January.

The other children to receive the award are – 12 year old Uma Shankar from Delhi, 13 year old Anshif from Kerala, 10 year old Sheetal Sadvi Saluja from Chhattisgarh, 14 year old Ranjan Pradhan from Chhattisgarh, 14 year old S. Shiva Prasad from Andhra Pradesh, 13 year old Mohd Nishadh from Kerala, 13 year old Kshetrimayum Rakesh Singh from Manipur, 16 year old Sahsad K from Kerala, 13 year old Divyaben Chauhan from Gujarat, 14 year old Johnson Tourangban from Manipur and 16 year old Sandesh P. Hegde from Karnataka. 16 year old C. Lalduhawma from Mizoram was one among those who showed their bravery but unfortunately lost their life. He also will receive the award posthumously.

As per Indian Council of Child Welfare (ICCW), eligible award winners will be granted financial assistance until they complete their schooling as part of their sponsorship program, reported Eastern Mirror. The children will be facilitated to study professional courses like medical and engineering under the Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme.
