Superman - The Movie:
The original superhero film is nothing like the cheesy TV shows or any of the matinee serials that showed heroes of the past. NO, this was the classic, heroic saga of the outlandish and eccentric visitor from the planet Krypton known as Kal-El.Richard Donner's 1978 Superman had a cast of heavyweight actors ike Christopher Reeve simply as Superman, and Clark Kent, while Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor brought a new level of humor to the baddie while (in this film anyway) never losing his truly evil streak.
This movie made us believe that men could fly! Oh yeah, he could fly! But what happened after this? The series degenerated shortly. Superman II was great but after that? Really sad story of bad sequels.
