This button when clicked by the users takes to the top searched results which make the work of the search engine user easy as it allows them to skip all the ads that Google makes money on. It's of no profit for Google but it's all for the comfort of the users. Google's first twitter update was "I'm 01100110 01100101 01100101 01101100 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01101100 01110101 01100011 01101011 01111001 00001010" which means "I'm feeling lucky" in binary.
