Bangalore: Telstra has replaced its previous Business DSL service and has finalised to upgrade Telstra Business Broadband (TBB) Ethernet. Telstra hopes the new higher-speed service will drive complementary services offered by the company, such as IP telephony and video conferencing and increasingly, cloud-based software and backup and recovery services, reports Tim Lohman from Computerworld Australia.
The upgraded service is considered better as a cost effective alternative for smaller sized businesses expecting higher speeds. "Many of Australia's SMEs are geographically dispersed, with branches in different regions and states," said Brian Harcourt, Executive Director, Telstra Business. "TBB Ethernet means they can reliably run IT applications from a head office, rather than have to deploy equipment and send an IT person out to branch offices."
