Bangalore: Telepresence and video conferencing are expected to grow in a $4.7 billion industry worldwide by 2014, in which Asia Pacific will contribute share of $1.7 billion, a share of 35 percent, according to the business research & consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. Executives from Tandberg and Frost & Sullivan stated that if the technology is to create long-term value for organizations, the need is to ensure interoperability based on an open standards platform.
Higher quality products, falling broadband prices and the need for senior executives to cut costs associated with business travel are some of the factors which have highly influenced the growth of telepresence. Telepresence is fast becoming a much needed technology in the enterprise armory, as the number of companies is growing in Asia Pacific. For meeting this requirement, Tandberg T3 provides features like premium lighting. T3 works with most of the existing applications, services and infrastructure, without further upgradation.
"Increasingly, we are seeing telepresence become a critical part of the total visual communication offering and in the last six months in particular, we have had some very notable customer wins in Asia with financial houses leading the way in adoption," said Lars Ronning, President, Asia Pacific, Tandberg.
"The telepresence market in Asia is definitely seeing a strong growth and awareness; however to realize the full potential of this technology, customers need to be able to talk to each other no matter what telepresence system or vendor they use," said Pranabesh Nath, Industry Analyst, ICT Practice, Asia Pacific, Frost & Sullivan.
