Telecom companies floats funds to VAS start-ups

New Delhi: As mobile user base in India grows hugely and people want to get accessed with latest software applications and innovative contents, telecom companies in India are now coming forward to invest on start-ups who are entering software and content development platform.
As part, Bharti Airtel, one of India's top telecom operators has decided to pump up
200 crore in telecom start-ups.
Moreover, Tata Teleservices, the telecom arm of Tata Group, has plans to start a business in Value Added Service (VAS) and IT infrastructure management. It will form a company in partnership with its group firm Tata Consultancy Service.
An Internet Mobile Association of India study reveals that mobile VAS services market in India will grow to
16,520 crore by 2010. The study also shows that the industry which is now worth
5,780 crore will increase steadily by 70 percent to reach
9,760 crore in next year and
16,520 crore in 2010.
