Teenagers In Mini Metros More Active On Internet: Survey


Gadgets! The survey suggests that 9 out of 10 urban teenagers have phones. Tablets are a hit among both the metros such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore as well as mini metros such as Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune and Chandigarh. Cyber café owners may soon be required to figure what they want to do with the space and computers as their demand inches towards void in the metros. Home PCs are firmly grounded in their demand as the most commonly used device for internet access from home. 6 out of 10 students own a laptop and tablets see a boom in metros, the report suggests.

Online shopping sees a decent rise among young India. As 50 percent of students spend more than an hour on the internet, 6 out of 10 students are shopping online. Clothes and accessories lead the pack with movie tickets following up.

Communication is realized mainly through Facebook and increasingly through Whatsapp, which has been a smash hit since its release. VIBER is also finding its ground as the chief mode of communication among the youth.

Job prospects also find a place in social media as Ajoyendra Mukherjee, Executive VP and Global Head, HR, TCS says that they are hiring candidates through channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, a business oriented social networking service.
